What this blog is about and what I hope it does...

I hope this will be a simple fun tool for us to grow in our understanding and surrender to God through the Bible as we connect over the web. Reading the Bible is both simple and difficult. What could be easier than opening a book and reading? Yet we've all done that and wondered what sections of the Bible mean? What's with the book of Leviticus? What is Revelation really about? Is the Song of Songs about marital love or is it supposed to be more 'spiritual' than that?

So, my intent is for this blog to be a tool that helps us in our faith. A forum for better understanding. An honest place of sharing that nurtures us as we follow Jesus together.

(There are a few resources I have included under "PAGES" that may be a helpful start, especially to those newer to reading the Bible. It's located just below this and to the right. Also included is a READING OUTLINE. If you miss a day, go on to the next rather than trying to catch up.)

ONE LAST NOTE: you don't have to join or set up an account to share comments. Just click 'comment' at the bottom of a post, click the drop down and click 'anonymous.' Then write your post and if you want sign it with your first name and finish by clicking 'Post comment.' I would love to hear your thoughts.

When God's faithfulness crosses with faithful human actions...

Thoughts, questions, possible applications...

  1. I can't get over Boaz. How would you like a job where the owner of the company comes on the jobsite and greets the workers with " the Lord be with you " . I want to work there !

It's great to see Ruth appreciated and blessed
( in this life ) for sticking with Naomi . The Bible does say in several places that we are to care for orphans and widows.

It's also nice to hear Boaz tell his men not to embarrass Ruth . Embarrassment can be as hurtful
as physical pain for some . How wonderful Boaz spared Ruth from that .

Matt , is Boaz what they call a " type " of Jesus ?

  2. I love how these bible stories are timeless. God's message is eternal and relevant always. Ruth's story is my story and your story. It is a road map of sorts about how we are expected to live. She is faithful, God is faithful, and blessings are abundant.

  3. Just wanted to quickly say thank you to those of you on the blog that prayed for me today as I participated in the panel discussion in Albany. It was a success and God gave me the words I needed. Afterward, many students came up to me and said thanks. They still considered themselves pro-choice, but had lots to think about. That's good!
There was only one student out of about 250 who asked questions directed at the pro-choice side of the panel. He was a Christian boy named Nate with tremendous courage. Please pray that he will run and not grow weary. Many of his classmates publicly ridiculed him for his faith and beliefs. Very unfortunate.

  4. Awesome to hear Wendy! The faithful thing is often seen as unreasonable, so you and Nate are in good company. Our faithfulness crosses with God's and things happen that bring blessing...not always according to our understanding. And it's not a formula, but better...a personal, wise, powerful God at work in all things!
